Sides Are not to be drawn Between who you are And what you want Fast is no way to defend We just crush the things We rush in the end And you take a photograph of this You put it on your desk Tqo fool everyone A chance Will never be If you don’t have the strength To just wait and see Sand Flies thru your face Slides out your hands Right thru the cracks And you take a photograph of you A photograph of me To fake what it means Ya can’t hold to it fast Pretend it will last Just like your dreams Cough You need to get out The dust that got in While you were in doubt Float Above everything You wear the crown And I’ll play the king We save the pictures that we take Behind the glass For arguments sake We try to take the right steps And cancel the checks Before it’s too late
2.
We’re always taught to settle Don’t fight things’ll get better But some nights you feel you’ll never get there Strong wings made of leather, well We all gotta stick together Cause there’s all kind of storms to weather out there They move with lightning speed And they know just what you need But there’s no guarantee It’s gonna get us somewhere They say you’ve got to sever, but No way not me not never, I Can’t face it alone forever out there Thick skinned and part barbarian Ich bin ein American I learn to give whatever I can They move with lightning speed And they know just what you need But there’s no guarantee It’s gonna get us somewhere Long nights filled with pleasure, brings Hard days and nothing to treasure, we Find ourselves bruised and battered and bare Big bus pulls into the station Takes us on a year’s vacation and Leave us feelin scattered and scared ¬ It moves with lightning speed And it knows just what we need But there’s no guarantee It’s gonna get us somewhere

about

Two upbeat tracks from this modern NY singer songwriter, recorded in the simple style of Elvis' early Sun Sessions (1954). Recorded in 1 afternoon in Blake's home studio with long time friend and drummer Lee Diamond who played a single snare drum for the session giving it that minimal 50's sound, this 2 sided single is a departure in style for Blake Ian and reminiscent of artists like Violent Femmes and Jonathan Richman.
